Third Party Candidates

Would you consider voting for a third party candidate? Ever? This election? Why/why not? And if you wouldn't, why? waste of a vote? too much at stake this election? feel that the best candidate is already on one of the two major tickets? other reasons?

anyway, here are some of the bigger names out there:

Ralph Nader- Independent
Bob Barr- Libertarian
Chuck Baldwin- Constitution
Cynthia McKinney- Green

Ron Paul isn't running anymore, but will be active this week at separate events from the GOP convention. hard to say whether that will fall flat or what... I will be starting my OB rotation so I probably won't be paying much attention, but we'll see.

In any case, I do think Ron Paul's book is worth reading, no matter where you are on the political spectrum, just to hear a legitimate alternative voice in the debate. It's a pretty quick read, I'm about halfway through and I'm a super slow reader... NPR did a pretty reasonable job during the primaries, but I would say the mainstream media was a bit quick to write him off in their coverage when he was actually making a pretty noticeable impact among voters. In my voting district in North Carolina he got 11% of the primary vote after everybody else dropped out.

through the LORD's mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not.  they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.  Lamentations 3:22-23.
